HDD Shipping Question!!

What do you think the chances of shipping a hard drive in a plastic zip lock bag will expose a SATA HDD to static electricty?

I ask this because I bought a drive off these forums and the seller packaged it in a plastic bag. It wont power on or be recognized in the bios/windows.

Totally unacceptable. They deserve, at best, neutral Heat (if you are tracking Heatware feedback), maybe even negative feedback, for a stunt like that.

As another question, what was the drive packed in the box with...peanuts? bubble wrap? anything?

Properly shipped hard drives will be in a static bag, then surrounded on all sides by about 2 inches of packing material that completely immobilizes the drive in the box, but will compress if the box is punctured or crushed. Foam is best, molded plastic inserts work well too. Bubble wrap and peanuts don't get it done.

it was properly packaged with the peanuts and some buble wrap...the hard drive was inside a small box too....i was shocked when I opened the box and there sat the HDD in a small zip lock sandwich bag. the seller had no idea he couldnt ship it like that and did offer a refund...he was very nice and communication was great. i told him i would keep the hdd for parts and offered to pay half the agreed price. he accepted.....after everything i left positive feedback on heat because everything else was great....he just didnt know better.
