I have an older computer with some problems and my question is---- which is better or is there a difference in this situation? The hdd cable has two connectors master and slave coming off a promise ata100 card on the primary connection. When setting the jumpers on the hdds is there an advantage too either setting them as master/slave or setting both drives as cable select??? I hope the scenario is clear, not very good at this.

thks Harold

Generally it is best to place the jumpers on either Master or Slave depending on what the hard drive role is going to be, (ie Master jumper for Master hard drive). The reason for this is that is just saves the computer from having to figure out which hard drive is Master and Slave, can also save from causing boot up errors.
