HDD No longer detected??? Plz help!

I turned on my computer today and the 2nd hard drive, is no longer detected by windows at all. It's just gone. I'm running windows on a primary SSD and this is my back up 500Gb standard platter drive. It's a sata drive, I tried a different sata port on the mobo and a different sata cord to no avail. The drive is still spinning. Any suggestions? BIOS still sees the drive btw...

Cd drive is detected, accidentally disconnected the sata cord while trying the new one for the hdd
 
Ok, I got windows to detect it by disconnecting, starting up the machine (power connected to the drive but not the sata data cable) then while windows was up, connect the sata cable and go into device manager and scan for hardware changes. If I restart the computer, it again won't detect it....
 
right click computer and go to manage.. then go to the storage section.. you should see the drive there. it may need to be activated or something like that.

try that and see if you find it.
