• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

HDD master key password

I recently purchased an Intel DQ77MK board and am trying to enable hardware encryption on my Samsung 840 Pro SSD.

To use encryption, I believe that you have to set a HDD password. The BIOS lets you set two different HDD passwords, though:

  • Master Key Hard Disk Drive Password
  • Hard Disk Drive Password

I'd like to give one of these passwords to my employees, but want to be able to change it in the event that an employee leaves. Down the road, can I change either password and still access the encrypted data on my HDD?

Thanks!
