HDD Detection Problem

I've got two ibm 60gxp drives that I want to install in my main rig to store some files (nothing important, these are 60gxps) but when I connect them with one set as master and the other as slave then the master will be detected but the slave will not, if I reverse the drives then the other will be detected as master but the slave still isn't detected so I know they both work. I tried connecting them to a hpt374 controller card in another computer then both are detected so I know they both work together, I have also tried them on a kt7a-raid on the via controller and only the master was detected yet the onboard highpoint 370 will detect both, I have a nf7-s in my main pc and i'm running a raid0 array on the silicon image controller.
Both the drives are set to cable select but setting them to master and slave on the jumpers makes no difference.

Anyone got any ideas because i've ran out ?

It turns out on one of the drives I somehow managed to bend one of the pins on the ide connector over and it broke the solder joint it has to the controller board so either pin 39 or 40 isn't connected so it will only work when set to master or used on a highpoint controller so I guess i'll only be using one of the drives then, thanks to my own mistake:rolleyes:.
Unless I get a highpoint controller card which I have been thinking about for a while and this gives me a excuse to get one :).

bet that wasnt all that easy to spot ;)
 
I only noticed it by accident but as you say at least I found what the problem was, the other drive is fine as im using it right now, i'm gonna break out the soldering iron when i've got the time and see if I can resolder the pin back to the controller board which I think I should be able to do. (i hope:rolleyes: )
