HDD Confusion!!

well its prob that time of that year again where i think about spending stupid amount of money on my old rig.

i want to get a new hdd but im unsure what to get now. usualy i get maxtors and never had any probs with them(i did kill one but it was my fault).

the choises are
1X big 400gig hdd with 16meg cashe SATA
2X Samsung spinpoints 250gig 8meg cashe SATA2

i havent decided on the big single hdd as im feeling for a change like WD or segate but maybe maxtor again....i simply donno yet.

as with regards with the spinpoints ive heard many good things about them as they are quiet fast and reliable....but i will not be using them in RAID as i like to keep things simple and have singular drives.

as with cost...the 400gig drive works out more expensive than 2 spinpoints but ideally i just want 1 HDD not 2 but the spinpoints are on special offer and work out cheaper than the 400gig drive and have a combined space of 500gig to play around with.

i will using the new HDD/'s on a Abit nf7-s R2. and im currently using maxtor DM9 120gig and 200gig IDE drives.

I donno what to do lads!!
