Hi all,

I've got a couple of issues for those more wise than me that know a bit about HDD's so should i worry about any of this?

1 Hitachi 5k3000 has developed 1 active bad sector
1 Hitachi 5k3000 has developed 36 passive bad sectors
My WD20earx has 414 passive bad sectors and is only a month old.

any thoughts/recommendations regarding further testing/RMA would be greatly appreciated

current hardware:
AMD Athlon 270u
ASUS M5A97 EVO
8GB Crucial 1333 ECC DDR3
4x 2TB Hitachi 5k3000
1x 2TB WD20EARX
1x 1.5TB WD15EADS system drive

OS:
ZFSGuru 0.2.0 beta 8, 9.1-004

1 isn't a big deal, 36 and 414 are of concern. I wouldn't trust my data to a drive that has a number of bad sectors.

Did you use the wdidle3 program from Western Digital to limit the head parking on the green drive?

Yeah ran wdidle3 set to 300seconds off memory, ill look into an RMA on those two drives, any recommendations on testing before i ship them off?

all drives running around the 40C (105F) mark.
did my first scrub last night WD20EARX has gone up to 6 BAD sectors 713 passive sectors......this seems like a bad thing to me. I'm thinking ill send this drive back too.

If multiple drives show failures I would always check the power supply and connections first. The PSU is the single most important unit in a computer, yet it is generally left out in hardware descriptions.
