Ok I just want to make this thread very simple.

I want to hook up my comp to a LCD RP via DVI. There is no DVI input in the RP tv I'm looking at, It just has an HDMI HDCP.

Can I use a DVI to HDMI cable to the TV from the comp?

and what can't I use HDCP with?

a dvi to hdmi cable *should* work. I have a sony with the same connection and I can get video through a dvi to hdmi cable. I have separate issues about keeping the signal that I am working on (probably a bad cable. only paid $10 for it). hdcp refers to a copyright protection scheme for hd content. I do not know if you will be able to put hdcp content from your computer through to your tv through the dvi to hdmi cable. i am sure others here will have more insight than i.

HDCP is enabled by the source, not the destination. Both DVI and HDMI support HDCP...so you should be okay.

so It has nothing to do with my comp?

as long as I use a DVI to HDMI cable it *should* work?

Yes. I use a DVI to HDMI cable from my HTPC to my Toshiba 51". It's worked well for several months now... You do have to connect audio seperately, however...
