Heavy Duty Corporate Pressure
Heavy Duty Corporate Piracy

I can see some oposition to this because people dont have screens that have hdcp, like current dell lcds, but that wouldnt affect anyone till vista comes out, and to my understanding most if not all tvs and lcd tvs (not lcd monitors for computers) have this built in if they have dvi/hdmi (could be wrong though). Assuming MS does the usual MS job, I see there being away around this 3 days after vista comes out (1 day to order vista, 1 day to ship, 1 day to bypass :p ). No sense in people making a fuss right now.

btw: blizzard is the anti chirst to me, stupid servers :(

i'm glad to see that sony won't be down converting the signal from blu ray disks to 480p, like they were originally going to do...and i do think that alienating all those hdtv early adaptors would be just plain stupid...

BUT i don't know if there's going to be an instant work-around for HDCP, because the keys have to be pre-installed in the hardware BEFORE purchase...there's no way to do it afterward...

as for another type of workaround, i don't know...remember, even thought they advertised as being hdcp compliant, there are no video cards out right now that are compliant on the "board level" (damn nonsense) so they can't spit out a compliant signal even if GPU is hdcp...not only the monitor but the vid card has to have hdcp pre-installed...

i don't know about a fast workaround to hdcp as it stands now...

I don't remember where, but I read some little article that some fancy-scientist-like-guy was saying that HDCP actually won't be all that difficult to crack, someone just needs like 5 keys and they can do it.. I'm still hoping that will happen pretty quickly, or at least at some level the protection through the computer will be able to be disrupted and cracked.

I HATE HDCP.

the name DarthBeavis rules btw :D

the 3007 isn't an option for me unfortunately...whenever i upgrade my monitor i'm going to need a better video card and soon i'll have to upgrade most of the guts of my computer (it's still agp)...i also need a bigger hdtv for my living room...

man, the necessities in life just COST!!!!!! :D

hate it or love it... i think we will all be forced to change sooner or later

less some one comes up with a crack or mod chip

what i dont understand is why companies spend so much money on copy protection.. its worthless. dvds copy protection was hack this will be also. when will they learn it doesnt work and to save the money.
