So I randomly hit up Ebay to see about a cheap and unnecessary upgrade this morning. I was considering testing Crossfire w/ my HD7950.

It appears my card, the Gigabyte Windforce HD7950 3gb is fetching more of a premium now. I see that some listings say Mac Pro compatible.

Is this just Ebay price gouging, or is there a specific reason this card is selling higher?

If I can get a decent price, I will gladly upgrade.

Why are you looking at a 7950? Are you trying to crossfire with your existing one? I'd recommend getting a newer faster single card if you are looking to upgrade. What is your budget?

I'm not entirely sure why your particular card is fetching more but, in my fruitless search of 8800 Ultra's, the price is different week to week. Sometimes I find them for $80 and other weeks for $150.

Thank you folks. Yeah, I realistically wasn't going to crossfire unless it was a $20 weekend experiment.

Turns out my card is good for Hackintosh. -edit- And manning as you can see below.

I may indeed grab a newer card and drop the 7950 on the bay with a radical "buy it now" price.

What would you guys suggest in the $200 range?

RX480's seem to go on sale for sub-$200 these days, and would be about as fast as 7970 Xfire without all the associated Crossfire issues.

Hey, if you're looking to offload that 7950 let me know when you list it. I've got a mining rig that looks pretty funny with 4 7950's and a R9 270 stuck in the middle of them. Runt of the pack. :) For the right "radical buy it now price" it won't be long on the ole' Bay, if ya know what I mean!

I think I have my answer as to the price now.

Just listed it for $999.99 or best offer. I kid. I kid.

I still have a R9-280 up and running .. it's hooked to a 42" 4K display and running desktop at 4K 60Hz and it's DX 12 ready .. I have paired it with another 7950 on my old X58 /Xeon 6 core and as said it is faster the 290x /780Ti .. It still runs like a champ.

You can also crossfire it with a 7870 XT (tahiti LE), I did that for kicks once, only gave up a couple frames per sec to a 7950 the way I flashed it.

Still have that XT somewhere, what an odd card, was an overclocking beast.

Your card is good for more then just hackintosh. I have two of them mining Zcash -- i bet two of them would net you like $75 a month mining after covering their electric. I looked at picking some more up as i had recently seen 7970s for $60 -- but im not willing to pay RX 470 prices for them...

Thanks for the input everyone.

Picked up a VisionTek Radeon RX 480 8GB. Haven't gamed with it at all yet. Just installed drivers and ran Unigine Heaven real quickly. I haven't done any sort of tweaking yet either.

Now to clean up that HD7950 for sale.

I remember my 4x 290X days ..... was pulling so much power it was tripping my 20amp breaker in the panel.

I had to end up running my Corsair AX1200 on a 240v line that I already have a few of em in my office because of HAM radio hobby I also do.

Just tossed this out here for fun of memories.
