After hearing team Red is back in the picture with new openCL cores I went out and got a HD7770. Problem is it won't run. First I tried installing FAH v7, config'd to run GPU only and it detected GPU, d/l a core 16 and status said it was running, but progress 0% and MSI Afterburner reports 0% GPU usage. Task Mgr reports core16.exe using 12-13% CPU? and FAHcontrol, core16, etc. all using small amounts of RAM. Tried stopping, restarting, reboots, etc. no-go. So I install FAH v6 instead. Hadta add the force ati flag and added -betateam and it grabbed a core 17 but then repeatedly crashed with error 72 bad work unit. Scrubbed work folder, queue, logs, etc and removed -betateam flag and restarted FAH = same result. Retried v7 and let it run all nite but just says "connecting" and doesn't even grab a core now. Was running a 550Ti for 15K ppd on this PC just before switching over. Tried both v7.36 and v7.29 (which I prefer over 7.3.6 for granularity of control) but no luck. Running a minimalist and fairly fresh install of Win7 Pro x64. Was hoping for more ppd and less power suckage but its not looking good. Ideas?

what drivers you using for the 7770?

yeah, those should be good, was able to do a few core 17 wu's on my 6850's using 13.4.

sorry i'm no help

Thx anyways Ted. I uninstalled and reinstalled v7 and config to run GPU & CPU. CPU runs fine and is getting a titch more ppd than it was on v6 smp. GPU says its running and is using 13% CPU in task mgr but is still stalled. No errors in log.txt or anything, just no progress at all

I'm no help either, but I had similar issues with 13.4 and a 7970 just the other day. Finally got it to run, though incredibly slow. And fixing it broke the two Titans I have in there as well. Works great in boinc though. I've heard that the best drivers are older, maybe 13.2 or earlier, and that AMD did something that causes the issues. I don't have the reference for you, though I believe I was looking on the folding forums for a fix myself.

FIXED - I eventually got it to run (28K PPD :)) Here's what I did (v7.2.9):
- did a clean reinstall config to run CPU only (sets CPU to slot 0, else it always gives GPU the first slot) runs fine, smp 8, 30K+ ppd
- manually add GPU thru advanced config, set gpu index to 0 (from -1) and save.

It's off and running now, 28K ppd and CPU smp has dropped slightly to 28K ppd but that's an acceptable trade-off.

I'm running a i7 3770K with the iGPU enabled as I use LucidLogix on this rig. I'm guessing the gpu index at -1 was making a wrong turn somewhere between the iGPU and the HD7770. opencl index -1 would get the HD7770 detected but the folding wouldn't 'grab'. hard set the gpu index to 0 fixed it. Now I just have to figure out how to get the remote access setup so I can monitor it in HFM from my server...

that's strange, i guess i always hit up my gpus to the ID since i knew which one went to which ID (i've got three btw, don't always fold on them though.)
