HD6900 Price Points

Anyone have an estimate as to what the 6900 series price points will be? I'm ready for a new card, but am debating between a 6870 now or a 6900 when it comes out. FWIW, system specs in sig.

This seems about right. Very few consumers (even the high end ones) will pay over $420 for a single GPU (and Hardocp consumers certainly aren't representative of "most" ).
AMD seems to have grasped that concept well.

400 sounds about right for 6970, heck it might be even less. 250 for 6870, 300 for 6950 if there is one. and 350-400 for 6970.

AMD will not sell the HD6970 for more than the GTX 580, so it won't be over $499.

It'll be faster than the HD5870 which was going for about 400 bucks before the latest release and will likely replace it. Probably will end up at 420 or 430 for starters. It won't be less because that is what the HD6950 will cover, in the $350 range. In fact, it might be more due to price gouging and high demand for a low volume item.

New tech is not cheap!

I think that's one of the reasons Nvidia pushed out the 580 so quickly. Get as many units sold as quickly possible before the inevitable price war.

Yup, and spread as much FUD as they could using proxy websites like fudzilla.
