Hey guys, I need some help with a HIS HD5770 that I bought about half a year ago.

When I boot up, BIOS alerts me of a video error, my card's fan ramps up to 100% and a red light turns on. If I leave it running, I get a plastic burning smell. This whole ordeal happens on random boot ups, and everything seems fine after a reboot.

The card's temperature never goes above 40C, and I have cleaned/reseated the card to no avail.

This has left me perplexed as I have no other solutions in mind, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

My ASUS mother board had boot issues with the 5770 cards. They released an updated BIOS to fix it. Check your motherboard vendor web site to see if there are any compatibility issues, or updates.
