Hi all

I just bought a set of Sennheiser HD497 phones from Radio Shack yesterday, and there may or may not be a problem with them.....

Where the speaker wire connects to the earpiece on the left side a little bit of the copper wire is exposed. Now, under the features listed the cables are supposed to be easily interchangeable.

I'm wondering how I would go about opening up the phones so I could switch the cable. I don't actually want to switch it; I just want to drag the wire covering up.

If it comes to it then I suppose I'll just exchange them at Radioshack, but that seems kinda excessive for such a small problem.

on the hd-497s you dont have to open the headphone, you just pull the cord out of the bottom of the headphones, you might be able to just push it in more if some metal is showing.



 
I think I may just return them, since the covering probably holds some of the weight of the cable, and with it gone the tension on the wires might cause them to tear.

Looking at it it doesn't seem like there's an easy way to get the covering back into the little black piece of plastic coming out of the phones.

Yeah, I think I've come to that conclusion too. They're only 2 days old, so I'd like them to stay in "perfect" condition for just a little bit longer than that, lol
