Hi guys.

Unfortunately, I've run into a problem only seen in World in Conflict with my HD4850. About 5-10 minutes into the game, the screen goes black with the "No Input Signal" message and am left with no choice but to hard reset the system. Sometimes when this happens, I hear the fan on the GPU ramp up to high speeds. So far I have tried reinstalling the game, repatching the game, Catalyst 8.8 and 8.9 drivers to no avail. Again this is the only game that has this issue come up. If it helps, the specs to my setup are in my sig and my overclock has been tested to be Prime95 and Intel Burn Test stable.

So is this just a driver problem or something else entirely? Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm able to play WiC just fine on my 4850 using the Cat 8.8s on Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

Its a shot in the dark, but check for BIOS updates, chipset driver updates, etc... I would also try lowering your OC back to stock, just to completely rule that out.

Interestingly enough, you're right. Reverting back to stock clocks made the game stable! What's strange is that this is the only game that I have that has stability issues of any kind. I have since been playing around with the voltages to my CPU, but do you think this may be related to the North/Southbridge voltages as well? Thanks for your help! :)

Nevermind. I spoke too soon. :( Even at stock settings the game still exhibits the same problem, leading me to believe that it is a driver problem.

Anyone else having the same issues?

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, rebooting to safe mode, run driver sweeper/cleaner, reboot and re-install the latest drivers? How long have you waited at the "No input signal" screen? Vista is supposed to recover a crashed driver, and usually does.

What res? If @ 1680x or greater try reduce DVI frequency in the CCC. Alternate DVI is good if you encounter corruption.

Thanks for your replies. Whenever I install new drivers I always uninstall them first, reboot into safe mode and run one of both of the above cleaning applications, and then finally reboot back into Windows before installing the new versions. I have waited for about a minute before finally hard resetting, but the sound stutters at times at high volume so I usually just hard reset before anything happens.

And yes, I am running at 1680x1050 resolution but the DVI trick doesn't seem to help either. :(

Again, it's strange since this is the only game that I have that has any issues whatsoever.

2b.) Known workarounds for freezing issues
Below is a list of solutions that works for many players when a freeze occurs, try going through the steps in the list and see if you notice any improvements to the game's stability.

• Activate and lower the "Framerate Cap (Power Saving)" option in World In Conflict's Advanced Graphics Options to a value between 15 and 30 FPS.
