Has anybody hurd about the image quality of the 3870 ? Is it better then the 8800.

I am using mine now with Windows Vista Premium 64 bit, and the image quality is excellent.

the IQ that ATI head the lead on, apparently NVIDIA caught up with the 8800 series (read on an [H] article i recall), they are on par basically now and it is not something to worry about.

What he said. Since the intro of the 8800 series, IQ has been nearly identical between NV and Ati at the same settings, in most games. It is not really a factor anymore in deciding which to buy.

Fastest card or cards in your price range, the warranty, the bundle, the aib, the availability, the compatibility of sli, or crossfire with your mobo, and your own brand loyalty are really the only deciding factors left.

Nvidia would have the leg up on IQ with their new CSAA and the ability to enable high levels of AA on a single card, even in a somewhat demanding game, compared to what the 3870 can put out, I would say Nvidia has a slight lead this time.

Technically speaking, nVidia has the best AF currently available.

Some feel a few of ATi's new AA modes unacceptably blur overall scenes as well.

I owned a X1900XT over the nVidia 7 series because I detested their way of doing AF back then. They corrected that by returning to their tradition of HQ AF with the 8 series.

Are we talking about video or gaming here?

I was talking in terms of gaming. I was just wondering because [H] usually shows some comparisons in there reviews and I diddn't see anything in the 3870 review.

didnt see anything because it really isnt an issue any more like the days of the 9700 series, basically uless you zoom in like 300%, you cant really see the diff.
