i'm thinking about getting a HD3850 or HD3870. i can't decide which card for now. I'm going to be gaming mostly UT. I'm waiting on the new cards to come out then upgrade so it's only a temp card. I'm think HD3870.

resolution? cpu? os?

Get the 3870, you'll need the extra 256mb memory at that resolution.

3850's also come with 512MB as well. Also note that most 3850's are single slot cards.

However, I agree that for the price difference, I'd rather go for a 3870 than a 512MB 3850 card, especially since I like dual slot cooling solutions.
