HD3850 - HD4650 anyone done it?

My friend wants to buy my 4650 I got from the lawsuit settlement, anyway I'm curious what people that have done this have thought of the card in real world usage. I'm sure they trade blows performance wise, but what about image quality, heat, and power usage?

He should keep the HD3850 unless he needs an HTPC card. HD4xxx is a bit better at HDMI audio and the 4650 runs pretty cool and needs less power (no P6 needed). Image quality is pretty much the same.

if you can get a free one go for it. I am not sure about the performance but it might even be a down grade (now that I think about it the 4670 is around a 9600GT, right around 3850), yes it will have slightly better effect visually in games on paper. but if you have to buy it then its not even worth it.

now if you need lower power its not a bad little card. and it has plenty of shader power for video filters. so a nice little HTPC card
 
your friend wont be gaining any performance buying your card, if that is what you are asking. For gaming, the 3850 is prob faster.

Yeah, he will be LOSING performance. The lawsuit settlement 4650s feature DDR2, which runs about half the speed you normally get with GRDDR3-equipped 4650s.

Don't bother.

Yeah, all the benchmarks I can find say stick with the 3850. Better performance in every scenario.
