Need some help here. I have a spare HD that I now want to use just for storage. It had XP on it. I formatted in disk management, and now the volume size is showing as 35 GB, when it is a 120 GB drive. I know the true size never shows, but this can't be right. Any ideas on what may be going on here, and what I can do to get it back to the size it should be ?

Did disk management see it as 120Gb? If not how old is your computer - is it very old?

did u do a COMPLETE reformat, i think theres an option where it puts ALL the data files under the c:backup or something like that..... check to make sure u did a completely reformat.... also try reformatting again

it might have more than one Partition on it. i would get a 98 boot disk, Boot off of it and type in fdisk, then go to the option to display the partition info, this will let you know what the partitions on the drive are, from there you can delete all the partitions and repartition it with a full size partition, then reboot with the floppy still in the drive and format the hard drive.
Or if you have Partition magic you can do this all within windows.
Unfortionatly windows does not like partitions that have no format, so they dont show up at all.
