ok I want to hear input on which would be the best setup for me...

I have a 120 gb, a 160 gb, a 160 gb, a 200 gb, and a sata 200 gb
I have a controller on board (ide) and a pci controller (ide) and of course sata on board

the question is which drive do i set my os on, which drive should i put my games on, which drive should i have the page file located???

my initial reaction is the 120 as my OS hd, the 200 gb sata as my sata and either the page file on the sata OR on a hd on a seperate controller

is this correct or is there a better way to do this?
 
Assuming your onboard sata is a raid solution, if I were you, I would use the 120 as a boot drive, get three serrilel adapters, and run the 2 160 gigs and the 2 200 gigs in raid 0+1. I know you'd lose ~80 gigs to the raid array from using the 200's with the 160's, but you'd still have a heck of a lot of space. Thats if I were you though, and I often do odd things.
Other than that, whats stopping you form booting from your SATA drive? Its most likely the fastest, so you'd theoretically want your OS on that, and I think you are supposed to put your pagefile on the fastest disk also.

that is an interesting solution... where is a good place to pick up adapters from??

the reasoning for me not putting the os on the sata is as follows
1. I would prefer to have the hard drive on the smallest drive, windows decides to kill itself no biggie... just have the os, a few apps or games and some recent downloads on it at most.

2. I figured to use my 200 gig for storing my games and possible the page file also... the only thing that would make me put my page file on a seperate drive is i heard it is faster to have the page file on a seperate hd on a seperate controller from the OS, so i was wondering if this would apply to the actual games too.

3. also have noticed that the sata runs a little hotter than my other drives at points, and a little louder than my 120, I leave the computer on 24/7 and would like to keep the room cool

well its off to format for me... OS is going on the 120 for the time being
 
I've got a pair of 160Gb drives running through adapters into the SATA on my board. I got one of the adapters friom Newegg, and one from the for sale/trade forums somewhere... My only gripe is that its not exactly an elegant soultion and clutters up my case a bit extra.
