Currently I'm running a 40gb IDE drive for my OS and a 320gb SATA for my games/pics/movies/shows. My 320gb is just about out of space so I picked up a WD 1tb drive the other day so I need some suggestions on the best way to set this up.
I'm thinking about getting rid of my IDE 40gig altogether and partition at least 40gb on the 320gig for the OS and use the rest for my games and pics. Then use the 1tb drive for my movies/songs/shows and possibly use it back up the 320gb drive. I want to back up my pics more than anything else because my last drive crapped out and I lost 5 years of my son's pics since birth, some wedding photos, and other misc stuff.
What is the best way to do this?
1. plug in 1 tb drive
2. back up data from 320gb to the 1tb
3. format 320gb, partition 40-50gb and back up the 40gb on the 320gb?
4. do i have to reinstall the OS or will the backup do the job?
Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated.
