HD problem

Ok so I orderd a new 250gb WD hd and I am having problems trying to format it. First of All I have tried Partition Magic, WD data lifeguard, and even trying to install a fresh copy of XP on the disk to format it. When I tried that it says the disk is inaccessable. Windows is recognizing the HD but it is not showing up in my computer. When I run partition magic it comes up with some error when I apply the format along the lines of #11117. Data lifeguard said it competed the format and it should be working but still is not visible in my computer. Any help would be greatly appreiciated, Thanks
 
I"m assuming you opened disk management and initialized the disk or it is at least shown in there. Try formatting it in there, otherwise double check jumper settings on it. May have a bad drive as I've never came across this problem before, maybe call up tech support see if they have an idea for what the problem is. My guess is they are going to have you run the data life long ass diag on the drive,.
 
Yes I did the disk management and when i inialized it and tried to format it, it came up with an error.
