I was almost ready to buy a few SATA drives for my computers but i got a last question before i proceed : what is the type of power connector (Molex 4 pin or SATA power) in a WD Raptor 36GB and a Seagate 7200.7 80 GB ?

I know i can google it but i prefer to hear from actual owners of those disks :)
 
i think my 36gb raptor has a 4 pin type connector as well as the sata one,but if they dont just use a sata/4 pin convertor only a couple of $£,unless your psu has sata specific connectors on it.
 
My Raptor has both connectors...My 7200.7 only has the SATA connector
 
Thank you for clearing this... i guess i'll get a adapter for the 7200.7 one or get Ultra Products to actually send me the sata connectors as advertised because i'm waiting for it for 3 months :-/
 
what is the advantage of sata power connections over the standard molex. seems kind of stupid to make a whole new connection when it isnt needed.
 
Yes, i was curious about that too but i think it has to do with separate lines for the various voltage needs.

BTW, i finally decided to get a Raptor 36 GB and a Caviar SE 120 GB so my power connectors question is now moot. Both have a choice of either SATA power or molex.
