HD not showing up under 'My Computer'

My secondary HDD isn't showing up in the My Computer space where it should be. It's on the hardware list and everything. Could it be because it's not on the same cable as my primary HD? Should I make one master and the other slave and the other cable for DVD-writer or does that not matter?
 
Did you just add the other HDD?

If you did, then RIGHT click on My computer -> Manage ->Disk Management...

a wizard will start at that point,. just follow the instructions..
 
Are you saying you have it on the secondary cable. If so then put it on the same cable as, the slave or, you can make it part of the master. In which case the master will read as the combined size. I always keep my opticals on the same channel and, HD's on the first.
 
appreciate the help, i do. I ended up doing the "Manage" thing then just fiddled around in there and I eventually got it to do a quick format and such and now it shows up. thanks a lot.

What the heck are you trying to say? If you connect two harddrives onto one ide channel as master and slave they won't show up as one drive,...

I was thinking that you probably hadn't formatted it yet...
