Hey all. My dad has an old HP (P3 600mhz) that has been with us since...1998 or so. Well, since my mom needs an internet comptuer, we figured this woudl be perfect. The hardrive was failing misrebly, so we replaced with with a 80g seagate. Well, as you all know when you install a HD it gets a "disk boot failure insert startup disk." the thing is, when I put in the startup disk, and press enter, it still says "disk boot failure insert startup disk." Any suggestions?

go into the bios and change the boot order to boot either from the cd 1st or the floppy, depending what os you are putting on the machine

Ahhh... another opportunity to convert someone to Linux.

What OS startup disk are you using? And a few more specs about the system would help. With a 600mhz processor, I doubt you have enuff RAM to run Windows XP.

P.S. At what point did BIOS's allow you to boot from a CD? Was this an option on older PC's?
