Hi, I recently upgraded my system, I had to do it in installments due to cash :). Got myself a AMD3200, KV8pro, 6800GT, 512RAM (512 to be added later). With this setup I had my old IBM deskstar HD and I am talking 5 years old.

I was able to overclock the system fsb from 2000 to 2300 quite confortably with no problems. Recently I replaced my HD with a Maxtor plus 10 HD. Now when I try and push my FSB anything above 2200, I get a boot failure with the message "boot disk not found, please insert CD or other boot device ... "

I was supprised that a HD would restrict my OCing is there anything I can do to get it back to 2300 ?

thanks.

if it is a sata drive that could be it some boards sata connectors stop working when you oc I thought maxtor 10 meant 10 gig the I rememebered that it is the new line oops ;)

Yes it is SATA, I'll try the latest BIOS for the Kv8Pro see if that helps.

some mobos dont have good sata locks at all.. and others they fail after a certain level

i got that when my ram timings were too aggressive. try relaxing them a little bit to see if that helps.

still wierd how it worked before though.
