I am going to try to explain this as clearly as possible but please bare with me. I recently purchased a 200gig maxtor hard drive that was going to be my backup hd to keep various things on. The computer that this new HD was in was a Athlon 1ghz machine with 512mb ram, an Asus A7V133 mobo with built in controller card. The drive went in perfect and all was great for about a month, now everytime I turn the computer on it doesn't recognize the new HD it only sees the primary drive. The new HD shows up in device manager though
Nothing was changed, all of a sudden it was just not showing up. Any ideas??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you reformat the drive after you installed it? cables tight?... what new mobo is it on..

how about a little more info

yes when i installed it i formatted it and it worked great, yes I have checked the cables many times and they are tight. The mobo is an Asus A7V133.

Did you run the manufacturer diagnostics on the drive to see if it's not dead?
