One of my office computers was running a maxtor ide HD (fat32) and it completely gave out yesterday. I hooked it up into another system that is running fine to hopefully pull off some information that is needed. Both are running XP.
When I tried to boot up the stable system with the failed hard drive I can get only to the windows boot screen and then the system locks up at that point. I made sure that the failed drive was set as slave.
Also, I moved the failed HD to another stable system in my office and had the same issue. Has anyone experienced this before and know what the problem could be and how to resolve it?
