I am looking to buy/build a setup capable of handling uncompressed HD video editing (~200 Mbps). Does anyone have any suggestions (ie NAS vs external RAID)? I was thinking of building a NAS box, but I don't know if I can get the needed bandwidth out of it.

How about something like a 3Ware 9690 + an 8-drive external enclosure? If your case is large enough you could get a couple 4-drive hot-swap cages and toss them internal.

SAS raid 0 for capture, SAS Raid 1 for editing.

What are you shooting on and what type of capture card are you going to be using?

We just built an HD editing system a month ago based on the Matrox RT.X2. We shoot with the Canon XH-A1 HDV. Our system doesn't need the speed of Raid 0 since the stream is not that demanding.
