Hey guys. I have a 320G Seagate in an external enclosure and lately I keep getting errors while trying to copy data off the drive. I seem to be able to copy data to the drive without issue, but when copying data off the drive I get "Cyclic Redundancy Errors."

I've tried another disk in the enclosure and had no problems. I then tried the seagate disk in one of my other enclosures and it had the same errors there. So, I've elminated the enclosure as a problem.

At that point I made the assumption that the disk itself was bad so I downloaded and ran the Seagate bootable deal to run the Seagate utilities on it, according to this software there are no problems o_O

So, I assume my disk is bad but the utilities dont find any problems. I want to junk it but at the same time I dont want to waste a 320G drive if theres something I can do to fix it.

What do you guys think?
Thanks

ok elmorcilla, first put your problematic HD in an internal connection, test it, then u will know for certain what is the problem. most usb enclousers are cheap and have low quality components , so chances are your HD doesnt have any problems.

I did try that and didnt get any errors. It just seemed strange that it could be caused by my enclosure because I had the same problem in two different enclosures I tried. It looks like this disk just doesn't play well with enclosures.

Anyway, thanks leSLIe
