HD appearing and disappearing

After hooking up my second LCD and using ultramon, I noticed that every other restart, one of my drives disappears in My computer.

I go to device manager and it doesn't even come up, i even go to the manage area for disk manage and it doesnt show up. But in the Bios it reads the disk as being there.

A fix is to restart and it will show up, but on the next restart it wont show up..

Computer is a dell 400sc.

Here are my drive configurations.


Primary
IDE master - WD1000JB
IDE Slave - WD 1200JB


Secondary
IDE master - Liteon CDrom
IDE Slave - Seagate 200gig drive

Its the Seagate 200 gig drive that is cutting in and out. The seagate harddrive is about 3 weeks old.. only.

Is this because of my dual monitor setup? I have only seen this happen today when i hooked both my monitors up.

Any suggestions on fixing this problem?
 
I would check the jumpers and then begin to suspect the PSU. Dell's PSU's aren't usually that powerful, and considering they still do the foolish thing of using proprietary parts, you'll spend a fortune getting one from them.

So today, i decided to fix my problem since it has gotten worse and worse. I started to have to restart many times before the drive became available again.

So i took your suggestion and checked out the PSU. I decided to connect my 425 watt antec power supply up temporarily. Problem still existed. I knew the power supply was good. So i decided to check the jumpers and cables. All the jumpers and cables were looking good.

So then i decided to switch around drive positions on the channels. Still problem occured.

So this lead me to believe either the IDE controller is messed up or the mobo.

My last hope, i looked for a new bios to see if this would fix it. Otherwise i would make a call to dell.

I flashed my bios to the newest bios that is released, and PRESTO...problem is fixed.

So could it be that my Bios some how got corrupted? What do you think the problem was?
