I don't get it. They go down to 28nm and they increase shaders by 33%...

I mean, sure the new architecture, but is it really proving to be so great?

Check sig, two Nvidia cards, back button.

edit:
For clarity, this sentence is flamebait:

"but is it really proving to be so great? "

Most people will choose to ignore you.

Actually, I sold my cards in anticipation of HD 7970 Triple-CF.

BAM! Right in the kisser!

Power consumption is one of the factors in deciding how many transistors you would want to cramp into a single die. Its not just a question of physical space. For every transistors you have, there are several small leakage power associated with it and so depending on the what TSMC can achieve with their 28nm technology, you have to find a balance between the number of transistors and the total power consumption.

they did a compute card meaning they added things that dosnt benefit gamers first, (Fusion concept) then die size expands same did happen for Nvidia with fermi.
gcn is a pre-mature arch still for drivers.

if they just a faster card, without gcn, you see a wliv that is double the shaders but not likely to see one out.

you posted 1 hour later and at 4am in the morning, sleep, you should try it some time., and maybe people dont answer because they dont know, or care right now until the card is out...

Yes! Its not even out yet but its already been proven

Obama said it last night: Dem cards be great!

It's better than what you had. Were you expecting bulldozer performance?

That's true. But we are talking about a msrp of $1650 for 3 7970 vs ??? for his old 590. I did read about some overclocked 7970 that are sort of in the ballpark of a GTX 590, pretty good for a single card.
