HD 7970 Artifacting problems, Help!

I'm stumped, I've purchased a Diamond HD7970 through microcenter and have exchanged cards 2 times. My problem is as follows, I run 2x24" lcds at 1920x1200 each, both cards with a clean install of windows and the latest 12.4+CAP artifact/blue snow 100% of the time on the DVI, and randomly if i use the mini dp>dvi / hdmi>dvi adapters. I've exchanged the card 2 times, both with the exact problems!

my configuration

Gigabyte x58aud3r, i7 950@4ghz, 12gb ddr2, HX850 psu, all quality components, my system was completely stable with my HD6850 and if i put it back into the machine all is well.

Any thoughts? I've also purchased brand new DVI cables. I'm at a total loss, id like to keep the card but may not be able to, I can't be exchanging video cards all day at MC, eventually theyll stop doing it.
What are the odds i received 2 bad cards in a row? I really don't enjoy driving a hour each way to microcenter just to find that the cards bad. Is it possible microcenter got a bad batch of diamond 7970's?
I'm still within my exchange/return so im considering my options...

Getting two cards that produce the exact same symptoms in a row is pretty rare, so it might be something with your setup. What temperature do the cards reach when you're gaming? Have you seen if it artifacts when using only one monitor or when your CPU is at stock speeds?
 
I thought that too, i installed afterburner and monitored my temps and they stayed at 73c while playing starcraft 2 for a few hours. I also noticed that the artifacts were only showing up on one of my monitors(the one hooked up directly to the hdmi>dvi adapter. The same monitor also artifacts 100% of the time when its on the dvi port.

The only way that i could get a non-artifacting setup is by using both the mini-dp and hdmi> dvi adapter for both of my monitors, i get "blue snow" on the desktop with the dvi port even when not gaming.
 
What are your clocks and voltages?
Also have you tried using a different cable?
 
I've tried 2 brand new dual link dvi cables, i manually set my voltage to 1.17v in afterburner to eliminate common voltage problems(even though im running default clocks with no overdrive). The funny thing is that I have a radeon HD6850 and installed in my system its rock solid, no video problems with the 2 24" monitors, or in any game. Normally im able to figure out these things but im absolutely stumped.
