HD 6870

I'm in the process of building a new PC and recently got this video card. I have 3 dell IPS monitors that I plan on using. All 3 have DVI connections. What adpapter do I need to hook up the 3rd monitor and do I use the HDMI or one of the display ports?

I plan on ordering a hard drive from tigerdirect and thought I would add this item also.

you need to get an Active DP(mini DP in this case) to DVI adapter.

The HDMI will not work for the 3rd monitor. As W.Feather said you will need an active display poet adapter.

If you're 6870 has a regular displayport output (like mine does) then this will work. If it's a mini-dp port like most 6870's, you may need this instead.

This is a assuming that you're dell ips monitors only go up to 1920x1200 or less. If you're running 2560x1600, you'll need to get the other active adapters for dual link dvi, which are thoroughly more expensive.

Thanks for the heads up on the mini-dp active adapter. I just purchased 3 23" Asus LCDs and will give this a spin with Dirt 3.

They're all the same, made by Accel, just rebranded by Sapphire, XFX, PowerColor, Dell, you name it.
