HD 6750 Crossfire with Trinity?

I'm planning to upgrade the CPU/motherboard/memory in my home office PC soon and am waiting to see whether Ivy Bridge or Trinity will be a better upgrade option. The PC already has a discrete HD 6750 in it.

The PC is general purpose. I'm an IT Consultant and work from home a lot, but also use it for various tasks including some gaming (Skyrim, SC2, etc.) and video encoding.

It seems that Trinity should Crossfire with certain discrete 7000 series GPUs. Anyone heard if it will work with 6000 series GPUs, specifically the 6750 which I already have? I'm thinking if it will that I can more or less get both a CPU & GPU upgrade and pay less than by going with Ivy Bridge.

not sure due to trinity using the VLIW4 architecture(not the GCN architecture) it may not. but the 6750 on its own should be enough, just use the power saving features so it shuts the 6750 off during desktop usage and then use the 6750 for gaming.
 
I guess there is a chance since the GPU and CPU both use the same architecture. If Crossfire will work I will probably go with Trinity, otherwise IB for more processing power as long as there is not a huge cost difference.
 
6750 uses VLIW5 architecture, the 6900 series use VLIW4. the 7600-7700 series use VLIW4, 7800-7900 series use GCN.

It would be if AMD would actually allow end users to take advantage. I wouldn't mind trying out Crossfire with my 7970 and 6970, but they decide to artificially limit their drivers(outside of Fusion). What makes it even more strange is that this would give them a huge feature advantage over Nvidia. My guess is that it would result in even more bugs than they have now and they don't have the manpower to deal with it at the moment.
