HD 497 with mic?

very good question. I am looking for a similar combo i want a headset but i want the high quality headphones and I mean I want my Senns. WHat would be nice if there was a mic that attacted to the headphones somehow some way of sticking on. You also might not think of it but desktop headsets work fine you dont have to speak right into them you can be in normal position at the computer

I know this doesn't really have much to do with the question, but side thing on the 497s. How much outside noise do they isolate, and how audible are they to people nearby? I've been thinking of getting a pair, but would want to take them on a plane trip with me, and don't wanna piss people off hehe
 
The 497's barely isolate (if at all). The people next to you on the plan could probably hear what you are listening but I doubt it would spread farther than that.
 
damn. Oh well, i might still end up getting them. Are there any headphones with comparable price/quality that would isolate noise better?
 
What is your price range exactly?

The only that I have tried in the same range are the hd212s, which look exactly like the hd497 but have black plastic over where the holes are. They are closed, so they isolate better, but the sound isn't as good as the hd497's.
 
$70 (basically HD497 range) would be my mas pretty much. Why is it so much moer expensive just to have a closed design on a good pair of headphones?

The 497s are open headphones. Wide open. What this means people on the outside can hear in, and you can hear the outside.

The closest to them is the HD212-Pro which are closed. The quality isn't as good as with open headphones, but they are still good and one of the best options for quality cans that are closed.
