Man i cannot oc this thing at all, nothing is working atitool doesn't load and ati tray tools doesn;t give me clock speeds, rivatuner doesn't work either.. I have been trying official cats 7.12 and 8.1 and Omega 7.12.

My card is a Visiontek newer model stock clocks of 800/2400. Idle temps are 37c using 66% fan controls in riva and loads like 54 also after i'm done game my card stays at 54c for some reason. Odd. I tried overdrive to ov only lets me oc the core and it goes to 840 highest possible in software. What should i do or can do..:(

Have you tried re-installing the drivers, after cleaning out the prior ones?

You might also just have a bad card.

There are 2 different cards

The one built by ATi using the reference cooler and bios

777 / 1126 card
BIOS Version 010.067.000.000.026905
BIOS Date 10/17/07 10:27

And the Visontek powered by ATI card.

800 / 1200 card: (memory cannot be raised in Overdrive at all)
BIOS Version 010.073.000.000.027243
BIOS Date 12/10/07 06:39

Visiontek site

You can try to flash to an older bios.

I used this fan fix bios on my Visiontek and Diamond.

Hope that helps.

dobieg2002,
Which Visiontek do you have? the ati refrence or the the Visiontek manufacured card?
I just got mine and it's the Visiontek card and I want to use one of the better bios's out there but want to be sure it will work on my card.

Thanks,
z

It was the stock ATI card, however from what I have read it is possibe for all variants.

Just wanted to let you know my Diamond was a powered by ATI card with a newer bios locked to 840/1180 max. Flashed it and forced it to accept the fan fix bios and all is well.

Remeber this is at your own risk... Save your bios and have a boot floppy ready,

who's bios did you use?
I tried to flash last night using winatiflash with the force option and it didn't take, will try atiflash tonight or tomorrow.

I had troubles at first:

I userd the 3870fanfix.bin from the site I linked.

I had to flash it like this with win flash:

c:\fullpath\atiwinflash -f -p 0 c:\fullpath\3870fanfix.bin

It was fun...

The Diamond card I had was strange. It would only down clock to 777 and only OC to 840. Not very good for a HTPC / Gaming system.

I know this is an old thread but it was very helpfull for the flashing part, I actually used this bios for visiontek (the BB deal) hd3870 except that I modified fan speed to match the regular bios (not the newly flashed one) as they keep the card cooled.
