HD 3850 AGP is here

sapphire has a decent rep. Hell I had a visiontek in there for over a year 1950agp and that companies rep is so so and never had an issue.

This card is rated at about 25% more power overall and that means Where I get 20fps, I'll get about 25fps,

So anyone wanting a Vision tek 1950 agp? hehehehe I will be selling it off once I get this card.

Well, considering the alternatives, I don't think it really matters if Sapphire is a good company or not.

If the card works you'll be happy, and if it doesn't you won't be.

It's going to be a big push for my P4 3.0ghz.
If it does not work, I'll return the card and will upgrade the whole computer. Perhaps, I even get a 30" LCD monitor with a the new computer.

Visiontek 1950Pro AGP, I just bought the 3850, which I noticed also upgraded the memory for 256meg to 512 which should help a bit too :)

Is Sapphire a good company to buy from?

Isai95, we've already got a 3 page thread going about this in the ATI Forum. Best price by a hair is at EWiz.com so far. $205 using Google Link, shipping is more than NewEgg though ...

And it was branched off from this thread by AdonSage ...

LOL I'll gladly feed newegg my $6 bucks... They are trusted by me more than any other vendor online, atm.

I have no regret paying a touch mroe for neweggs quickness, service and return policy.

LOL something like 60% of the installed base of computers are still AGP... So um yeah, while it is dying it still lives... If this gets me to 2009 and Nehalem quads then its 200 well spent

Plus as you can see a 8.4k 06 score is not too shabby. If I can pull 10k with this card I'll be happy as this puts me in range of the 8800GT.

The main reason for my post was just to let everyone know seeing this thread that we've already been keeping track of pricing and availability for a few days now and the main thread is located in the ATI Forum.

As far as NewEgg goes, I generally use them myself and feel the same way, unless I can get what I need cheaper from another reputable company. EWiz.com is one of those by the way. Shipping is also sometimes free there depending on the item. Unfortunately, this is not the case with HD 3850 AGP though.

Interesting I will have to put them on my short list of vendors and give them a try at some point.

They are coming out with a new socket also LGA 1160 mainstream and LGA 1366 Bloomfield:

My P4 3.0 and the HD 3850 AGP very well get me into these new processors upgrade.

Agree the 1366 Bloomfield will be the base for the new Nehalem processor I just hope this box lasts until then. Plus by then the G200 based GPU will hopefully be a realization. Mid 2009 crossing fingers.. .keep going you little p4 you! Also if i recall Nehalem might be slated for 32nm potentially.
