HD 2900XT & Driver 8.38

I don't think that is legit.

To my knoweldge, there is no such "Forceware 158.48" which is what they claim to have used.

If the 8.38 drivers are out, that is cool. I don't actually see them anywhere, but I may not be looking hard enough.

But, I don't think those results are legit is what I am saying.
Unless you can prove otherwise I will disagree with you. You can't even find the 8.38 drivers so unless you can come up with something more substantial then "I cannot find the drivers" that's a pretty far fetched view.

8.38 is not out yet, AMD support guy told me that they will be out sometime next week.

I am having problems getting the original drivers that were shipped installed, and plus the downloaded version on the ATI website.

Having no luck at all, with my problem.

cheers

I was trying to aim for, I can not prove that such drivers exist yet, and the results for nVIDIA are claimed to be done on drivers that do no exsist.

If you can find the 8.38 drivers, and 158.48, please, prove me wrong.

So if I put up a review with AMD's 8.4 drivers and Nvidia's 150.52 drivers that showed a 30% gain from both cards it would be legit until someone was able to disprove that my drivers were all fake and the test was made up?

Not my problem. It's not up to me to prove anything for you when the link supplied shows otherwise. :D Unless you can prove otherwise I will disagree with you.

Well if that's legit, the stock XT beat the stock GTS in almost every test. Regardless of these results, I think the drivers are bound to improve.

It's not up to your personal opinion to say this or that. It will be your job to show some tangible proof to the contrary. :D

What do I have to prove so you will see that these results are not legit?

That drivers don't exsist?
That, like Stereophile said, the stock XT beats a stock GTS in every test, but in other reviews, it doesn't?

What the hell are you talking about?

The point is, until more people can do tests with the same drivers and hardware and not some unreleased, maybe don't even exist drivers we don't know if the review is legit or not.

Do you believe everything in the inquirer just because its a magazine and in with the rest at the store?

LOL, now you see what you posted is only an opinion and not a fact. Posting an opinion as fact will cause you to make posts like this. :p

LOL, the issue is that Cat 7.5 will be released sometime next week. Why don't you wait until then. ;)

Let me post some facts for you:
THE DRIVERS THEY USED TO TEST FOR NVIDIA DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT EXIST.

THE DRIVERS THEY USED TO TEST WITH ATI, DO NOT, AS OF RIGHT NOW, DO NOT EXIST.

Now, try to prove my "FACTS" wrong with your "FACTS".

you're the type of person that will jump off a cliff just because someone told you too... dont take everything you see on the net as true..

LOL, as I posted before, I don't care about nvidia drivers. As for the 8.38, it's not my problem to find them for you. :D As I stated before, wait until the new Cat 7.5 release and see then. No need to get so upset because I disagree with your point of view:
-you cannot find drivers therefore benchmarks are fake.

And, lets make this clear, this is not an issue that I posted the results using new drivers it's solely based on why I don't see these benchmarks as fake in absence of evidence to the contrary. Unless there is some solid proof (other then you cannot find the drivers) I reserve my opinion.

LOL.
I am not upset.
I am trying to make things clear.
Caps lock usually works.

You shouldn't have to prove me anything.
Nor should I have to prove you anything.

All I am saying is, your review is fake.
You can call that an opinion, fact, or a mixture of the two.

The likeliness of your review being true is very slim, because the said drivers that they used, do not exist.

You can have your OPINION to whether or not your review is valid, but, if said used drivers do not exist, which is a FACT, your OPINION would be, well, YOUR OPINION.

:)

Because you cannot find the drivers doesn't mean they don't exist. Also, because you cannot find the drivers I will not agree with you that the benchmarks are fake. Again, in the absence of proof there is no truth IMO.

HKEPC is a solid site. They often have pictures of things before the rest of the world.

Oh, look they're testing TWO sets of drivers that haven't been released to the world at large.

Its pretty common knowledge that some reviews have 8.38 drivers. They've said as much. Just because they're using ATi and NV drivers that you cant get, doesnt mean its not real. They always have pics of hardware, and numbers first as well. But I guess all those pics arent real, because you cant get the cards. And you can actually get the 8.38 drivers. See a thread in these very forums for a link to it. Just a few below this one.

It is kinda funny that two people with 8800 cards come in here and claim the results, and drivers are not real. Go troll somewhere else?

AFAIK, 158.43 do exist.

Hmm...you're right...time to start searching again.

Supposedly, Tom's Hardware has used 158.48:

Anand from Anandtech, himself, says that he just got 8.38 on May 14th:

Thanks Cyrilix :D

Agreed

Thanks Cyrilix :D

Looks like Cyrilix proved your personal opinion (that you consider FACTS) false regarding the existence of the 158.43 driver.

Sorry, they were talking about the 158.48 driver, but I don't know who...you guys were quoting 158.43 so much that I went off in search of 158.43 (which was easy to find). After Eastcoasthandle corrected me, I went off to search for 158.48 and didn't find too much, but a small reference from THG... if you guys can at least trust THG and Anandtech not to lie, then this review should be more or less factual.

As for Eastcoasthandle and Shiningholden... Shiningholden, you should've done more research before shouting. Eastcoasthandle, you should've done the research before claiming. It doesn't help that neither of you have a handle on the situation but you're debating about it.

Yeah. Oh well. Another fact, he is wrong about the 8.38 drivers, leaked and posted about here; http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1192537

Why they even bother trolling doesnt make any sense to me. Just makde themselves look foolish.

You are right, it doesn't make sense specially when they have no facts to back them up. They honestly expect people to "take their word just because they post it".
-------------------

As far as the 8.38 drivers go, I do hope they make it to the Cat 7.5 release. I am not 100% sure if we will see it this month or next. On the other side of the coin, I can wait if they need more time. No need to rush out drivers that don't fix the problems.

Hey, all I did was post a link to some benchmarks using the 8.38 drivers.

Couldn't the exact same thing be said about you and the benchmark linked to? I'll wait for some english sites to put up #s. IIRC that same site also posted #s on the 8600 Ultra or whatever it was called that never existed.

EastCoastHandle:

I really hope it does perform better than a GTS because it costs more.

On another note drivers can only do so much...it is confirmed that r600 has an inferior architecture compared to NVidia this round...the only thing that can save them is MASSIVELY high clocks.

IF this was 6 months ago I would say ATi did a so so job...but the fact that ATi delayed so many times (in attempt to get these massive clocks, which they DID NOT achieve) there is a right to be extremely disappointed as ATi could have very likely released this product 6 months ago (unless their original offering was even slower clock wise  )

Who confirmed that the R600 has an inferior architecture? Any source?
