I just received my new HD 2900 card and when I launch 3DMark, it just hangs...

Any ideas/suggestions?

thanks...

More system specs/OS info please before we can help you. Include your power supply too.

systemroot/windows/system32/futuremark/msc/
Rename direcpll.dll to something else, like directcpll.bak

I have the exact same problem. Is ^^^ really the solution? I've been wondering how the heck to fix the problem.

no seriously i have a friend who works for ATI.

he said they released the 2900XT knowing that they had a few more months to work out the bugs. Mainly they were concerned that the cards wouldn't hold stable under the anticipated hardcore benchmarking that was sure to ensue after its release. supposedly they will handle most games, but maxed out benchmarking would cause some cards to miserably fail.

Too much pressure from the 8800 slaughterhouse i guess made them release it early.

looks like you are going to have to wait.

Take it easy man.......hes only giving us some input. I for one am still on the fence about getting an ATI 2900XTX or a 8800GTX, and with input like his, well, its not looking like a hard one at the moment.

He's a troller nonetheless. And what he said was not relevant to this thread anyway. I think Futuremark has to release another patch for 3DMark06 in order to recognize the HD 2000s properly.

While you're defending him, how about if you take a look at his profile.

He has ONE post that is not a post trashing AMD/ATi products.

So if you really want to defend a troll, good luck with that.
