Very nice! Typically how many frames are combined? What software are you using?

I usually use 3 frames. I either line them up using photoshop or photomatix

Ok dumb questions but what is HDR? I am assuming it stands for Hi-Definition Resolution but what cameras do it (ie will the Canon XT/i do it) and what, if any, special software is needed?

How did you get them to shoot 3 shots fast in different modes?

There is a multi-exposure setting in the menu, just adjust the 3 exposure in 1/3rds and turn multishot on, presto.

The term is called "bracketing". It's the general term of taking multiple photographs while varying different settings. Exposure bracketing is when you take the same photograph with multiple shutter speeds Similarly, ISO bracketing is when you vary only the ISO, keeping everything else the same.

HDR is done with exposure bracketing, and most DSLRs have that feature.

aHH...

Someday I guess I'll get one!

A lot of decent mid range cameras are starting to include that feature, its just not as easy to find. My Canon G7 has it, but unless its something that can move I just do it manually.

To the OP those are gorgious

Great shots, reminds me of farcry or crysis :)

You can also do HDR with a single raw shot which is easier when you don't have a tripod handy.

Photomatix has the option to generate HDR from RAW.

Awesome job on those :-D

Wow, very nice. I particularly like the last 2.

I want to start trying some HDR stuff, sadly I am not in HI anymore and do not know when I will get back (was there 3 times over the last few months for personal matters).

Must be hard trying to find a cloudy day! The clouds dont last long there most of the time ;)

Thanks everyone. I am going to do some more HDR stuff when I go to Italy in 2 months..
