I need some help with a video problem...
I've got an nVidia 8800 GTX connected to an NEC LCD2690WUXi. A few weeks ago, I started seeing a vertical blue line appear a couple of inches from the left edge of the screen when the monitor was first turned on during the day. It didn't happen every time, but it happend often enough. After a few minutes, the line dissappeared.
Today, I've got four... what looks like flocks of birds along the top of the screen. On a dark background, they're green - on a light background, they're magenta. These are not going away. With some backgrounds, they blink, others, they're stable.
I've got two inputs on this monitor, and the machine connected to the other input shows up fine, with no problems. If I swap inputs on the back of the monitor, the problem stays with the same machine. Unless there's something really odd going on, I figure that means that the problem is not the monitor.
The two machines don't use the same cable, so I can't swap them (one's dual link, one's single link). I've got a new cable on the way so I can try replacing that before buying a new video card - but is anyone familiar with these issues? Does anyone know what's causing them?
Am I right in guessing that the monitor is fine? I don't want to find out I was wrong after shelling out a few hundred on a new graphics card.
