Having two sound cards in one PC

so besides using my pc for movies and games, in at least one game i use a dedicated ventrilo server my clan rents, using the headset for voice chat is ideal, but for the game that is being played i want to use my speakers.

my motherboard has integrated audio, and i have an old SBLive sitting in my old parts pile.

I put it in my computer last night, and it installed fine seemingly, so i fired up ventrilo and when i charged the target sound device from default direct sound device to specifying SB Live, my system crashed and when i rebooted, the sound blaster is listed in device manager, but it isn't on the menu for sound devices for any program that lets you pick your target audio device, just the integrated on my nforce4 board.

did i miss a major step somewhere to getting 2 cards working? anyone know if i can even do this at all in windows xp pro?

I'd have to say install the drivers from Creative. There is a 3rd party SBLive driver floating around somewhere that prevents you from having to install from the Creative CD from the start but i'm not sure what it's called or where to get it.

I have had two sound cards working at the same time on Windows XP Pro (SBLive and onboard sound). It's possible.

since it is already hosed, should i remove both devices and let windows redetect them, then install this 3rd party driver?
and what is it called so i can search for it if you don't mind me asking?
