I've been trying to find some info but it seems to be an intel bias lately. I'm looking for a motherboard that will fit a Silverstone SG01 and can run an AMD quad core processor.
If Intel far outperforms AMD's quads, then I'd take it into account but from what I've seen, AMD usually runs cheaper for the same specs. I don't care about SLI or overclocking.

Well first off which Quad are you looking at? Second what will you be doing that you need this Quad? In order for AMD to catch an Intel Quad, you much O/C the chip. I think you are better or with a G35 and a Q9300 with a light O/C. better performance all around and will draw less power

Clock for clock AMD cannot match Intel these days. If you want a AMD thats fine but they don't match up like you think.BIOSTAR has some nice mobos for AMD. Look into them and see what fits your needs.

I was looking at the Phenom 9750 2.4GHz AM2+
For Intel, I was looking at Q6600 2.4GHz

I do gaming, music, video, burning. I love my dual core and thought that quad can only be better. As far as overclocking, I have no intention of doing it because I never have. Sounds like more work than it's worth and from what I've read it shortens the lifespan.

Instead of quad core, would I be better off with Core 2 Duo?

Over clocking is dead simple. Your best bang for your buck atm are the 8400's 3.0GHZ stock, cheap and can hit 3.6-3.8 very easy.

If you want to do all those things at the same time quad is the way to go. Otherwise Dualcore will be fine for any singular one at a given time. Most games dont take advantage of quads so dualcore can be a better way to go and cheaper as far as gaming only goes. However if you like to burn and rip while listening to music and while gaming (multiple apps running at once) then Quad does it better with less slowdown. Just depends on what/how you plan to use the system and how much you can afford to spend.

Yeah I've given it some thought and been researching Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 w/ a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L mobo.
