I'm going into the Air Force and I need to find a small mobile computer case that I carry around easily yet can hold top end video cards. I'm having trouble finding something that fits what I am looking for and I really do not want to get a notebook PC as I like upgrading video cards two or three times before I end up buying a new PC and spending $3000 on a gaming notebook seems silly to me.

I dont care if it looks plain, it just needs to be functional.

If you have any other recommendations for me other than case (like monitor) fire away.

I'm guessing something like for a pc build for people who go to a lot of lan parties would work.

I was in the airforce 2003-2007. You won't need a computer for 2 months if you're lucky.

The dorms for techschool, you won't have any internet connection unless you use your cell phone. I lived in a bay with 12 other people. The cool thing about it was that I went to school for IT. We were all computer nerds and on the weekends, we would run cables up and down the halls (which you weren't supposed to do) to LAN games.

Anyway, the thread above is QFT.

The A05b is nice, but it has cooling issues. It must have a blowhole or a slot exhaust cooler to have decent temps.

any case that will be able to fit the latest cards will probably be too big to be carried around with you unless you have a lot of bag space.

There was a guy who modded a computer into a ammo can. I don't hav the link but i'm planning to make something like that.

Lanbox with the handle?

MATX + can be modded to fit long cards... 1-2 HDD's and a DVD drive... wallah...

Lanbox, Rogue, and others suggested in this thread are probably too big for your purposes.

I have a Lanbox, and it's too big to be able to be effectively transported. The Rogue is even bigger.

Consider a Shuttle. It's half the Lanbox' size. They can hold any video cards, as long as the PSU can handle them, it's 400W on mine. Also, you can buy one for 200.99 Newegg Open Box, with just the thermal paste missing.

Newegg Open Box one isn't up ATM.

edit: I should note that Shuttles are barebones; in other words, it's basically a Case+Mobo+PSU combo. You won't be able to upgrade the PSU without significant mods, or the mobo, unless you somehow buy a new one directly from Shuttle. Still, by the time you need to upgrade any of that, it's probably time for a new rig altogether.
