When I try to burn a cd with Nero it will freeze when I click the burn icon and then a few minutes later it will come back and say taht I don't have a cd inserted. Alcohol 120% also says that I do not have a blank cd inserted.

I've tried installing ASPI layers, removed, tried different ones, etc and I get the same problems with every one. I've checked the obvious, the cds are blank. I've ever tried different brands. Also the cd burner is brand new. I replaced my old one with it because I thought it was some kinda hardware issue but turns out I'm wrong. I have no problems at all reading cds with the drives.

Per my friends advice, I tried switching to PIO mode for the drives and I get nothing. Honestly it's been so long since I last burned a cd that I have no idea when this problem started too. Anybody have the same problem and a solution? It's really starting to piss me off

Ugh god dammit this is really getting on my fucking nerves. Somebody has to have a solution to this. I don't want to have to reinstall Windows.

Change your IDE cables? Try the 80-conductor ATA100/133 cables.
Try setting up your drive as Sec-Master. Try a different burning app (Burnatonce is free, google it.)What CDRW drive do you have, and what is it's current firmware?
If it's an NVidia motherboard, I'd recommend rolling the IDE drivers back to the default MS ones, NVidia's IDE drivers are sucky.
