Having problem With the PeeCee.

i recently formated because i was having a problem with my pc.
while playing on steam my computer would randomly freeze up, so i had to re-boot by turning it off, but when i turned it back on and it started to load windows itfreezes up on the middle of the win2k loading screen. and it keeps doing it no mater how many times i restart the computer, the only way i found to fis this problem is by unplugin the hard drive for a few secs and pluggin it back up, is my hard drive dying?

i have a 40gb 7200 rpm maxtor, running windows 2000 pro, a p3 933mghz and 191 pc133 sd ramthis boot up freezing problem actually started a while back before i formated, i accidentally shut the computer down when it was loading up windows at the win2k screen (same place it tends to freeze at, ever since it will randomly do it.

i was thinking i might have damaged a sector on my hd.

any ideas?
