having issues with nostromo n52

I've had the n52 for a while, but I keep having a problem in WoW, where the scroll wheel stops working. I can fix it by pulling out the USB plug, and then putting it back in. It's an intermittent problem, usually once a half hour or less. I'm using a Saitek eclipse keyboard and a MX518 mouse. Any suggestions on fixing the problem?
It also needs a cleaning, there's a little gunk in the keys and the directional pad squeaks. How do I open the thing to clean it?
