Having Issues while playing games

Hello All,

I recently upgraded my rig to a MSI Neo2 Plat / AMD 3500+ with 2 X 1Gb Ram. Now when I play games, the games just freezes every now and then for half a second to a second. When the game isn't frozen, the game is smooth. This has happened to me on WoW and Half Life 2. Have any of you experienced this and been able to fixed it?

I also noticed that when the game freezes, the harddrive light is on as well...

Youch... that could be a bad sign... (could be) a seek error.

Do you hear your HDD clicking (the "click of death") when it does that????

Also, might try defragging the HDD.

Either way, might be a great time to back up anything important, even if it isn't gonna die.

My Uncle has the exact same problem, only when playing CSS and BF1942.
He has a Neo 2 Plat, 1 gb of ram, AMD 3500+, 6800GT OC, Turttle Beach Santa Cruz.

I at first thought it was the sound card, as it would studder and the sound would just play over and over. But we disabled sound, and the same thing is happening.

My next guess was video card, but then I saw your post. In your sig I noticed you have a 380Watt PSU. My uncle has a 450watt PSU, but is by Foxconn/Alliance, which is supposedly CRAP.

I'm wondering if the root of this problem in insufficient power, but not enough powerloss to crash the system. It's a long shot, but that's the only thing I can think of right now. I even FORMATTED his computer, but the problem persists. And according to himself, he says his hard drive doesn't click, and he defragged and scan disked this week . .. nada.

Any suggestions?

I have a 480 Antic NeoPower.... so plenty of juice for the carriage. I'll try the fast write.. I just read it on nvnews. Thanks and GL to me!

can I ask, what does the agp fast write do exactly?
My 98 pro has fast write enabled under display settings (though that must have been from default as I havent set it). Apart from possibly a "10% performance increase" I couldnt really find any info on what it actually does. anyone able to shed me some light?
 
haha who said 10% performance increase..hah more like .10 lmao....i dont know what it does but for your 9800pro leave it on..hehe some 6800/6600 owners get instability issues with fastwrite on with nforce3 chipset...so yeha dont worrry about it
