I have a saphire 5870, it's about 2-3 weeks old. The rest of my system is:

Ip35pro Abit
q6600 clocked at 2.8ghz
corsair 520watt
4gb g skill ddr 2 (2x2gb)

It seems that everytime I go online to surf and keep up with my favorite websites then go to Modern warfare 2 the game seems like its fps is way down, Like i was trying to play the game max settings with lesser card.

I've found that if I restart my computer and just load up steam and load the game it runs as it should. I was hopeing this newer driver release was going to fix it but it still happens daily, I have to do my computer stuff, restart, then play mw2.

I just tryed dirt 2 earlier today and does just what mw2 does except most everything around the car is blurry while racing with what seems to be very low fps.

I'm thinking the video card isn't clocking out of 2d when i go into these games, (just a guess). I've googled this and came up empty, anyone else having these issues or heard of anyone having them.

Is your web browser hanging on exit and stealing all the CPU cycles endlessly in task manager? Does it happen with Chrome/Opera instead of IE/Firefox?

You can monitor clock speeds with GPUz ,MSI afterburner, or many other programs, start your game, play around a bit then exit out and see if the clock speeds were at 2D or 3D levels.

k i downloaded gpu z and cpuz

i can see that the clocks on the gpu went up to the right values and i turned off the cpu throttleing in bios to make sure my cpu wasn't at fault.

they seem to be running at the right speed and i don't see any processes for internet explorer which i use running. Also nothing using as much memory as modern warfare 2 is while testing.

I have kaspersky running which has never been a problem

When i reinstalled vista for when i switched to this ati card from nvidia, I downloaded the newest intel chipset drivers instead of useing the old ones from the ip35 pro cd which i normally have used. (could this possibly be a problem?)

Also I have a recent addition of a xfi sound card.

Those are the only 2 things i could think of being changed other then the video card.

No fix yet, please help further if you can!!

I think I might have got my problem fixed, I uninstalled the video card drivers/ccc. I then downloaded the option B (drivers and ccc seperated and installed seperately). So far today I haven't needed to restart my computer to play my games!!

I tryed the option A packaged together drivers/ccc 3 times and it didn't fix my problem. I think I got lucky though, Didn't change anything else.

Just thought you guys would want to know its resolved for now.
